ABB's propulsion system for Star Cruises cruises

       It is reported that ABB has received an order worth US$60 million to supply power generation and propulsion systems for two cruise ships built by StarCruises for the Papenburg shipyard owned by MeyerWerft.
ABB Power & Automation Technologies will supply StarCruises' two cruise ships with power generation and distribution systems and propulsion motors and its latest generation of AzipodXO propulsion system complete electrical systems with an output of 20.5 MW.
ABB stated that the AzipodXO propulsion system will use less fuel than conventional propulsion systems and will be more maneuverable under all conditions.
StarCruises ' 2 150,000 gross tonnage, 330-meter long cruise ship has 1,682 cabins, each capable of carrying 4,525 passengers and will be delivered in 2016 and 2017.
