Detamarin will provide design services for two turbines in the construction of polar oilfields.

It is reported that the Russian ship giant Sovcomflot has placed three of the polar icebreakers at the Helsinki Shipyard in 2014 for the oil and gas field protection of Sakhalin Island. The total contract price is about 380 million US dollars.

In addition to being used primarily for marine rescue and oil spill recovery, this polar oilfield guard ship can also be used as a platform supply vessel for cargo transportation. Detamarin will assist Arctech in completing the turbine design of the first ship and the hull design of the first two series of ships. The ship, 95 meters long and 22 meters wide, can not only sail freely in the ice zone, but also can perform icebreaking operations in a harsh environment of minus 35 degrees, that is, it can independently open a channel in a 1.5-meter-thick ice zone. These ships are scheduled to be delivered between September 2016 and March 2017.
