Liu Qibin, Deputy General Manager of Shaanxi Heavy Duty Truck: The Long Road to China's Heavy Trucks

Heavy trucks with heavy energy consumption and heavy emissions still hover outside the green gate, directly constraining the overall development of green new energy vehicles.

A British female journalist named Jane Moore once wrote in a blog about a period of travel in China in 2000: “Those heavy and heavy trucks pass by me, and the big ones that I can capture in my shots, except for the suddenness The black smoke does not see any beauty.;

While promoting economic prosperity and bringing convenience to the society, automobiles also bring serious energy and environmental protection issues. Since the 21st century, the energy crisis and dust pollution have seriously eroded the environment that is closely related to us and threatens our health. Physically, it is of great significance to reduce vehicle exhaust pollution, develop new green energy vehicles, and develop new energy heavy trucks. Heavy trucks with large energy consumption and heavy emissions are still outside the green gate, directly constraining the overall development of green new energy vehicles.

Since 2004, international crude oil prices have continued to rise. By September 2005, international crude oil prices broke through the US$70 mark per barrel and reached the highest level in history. Since 2005, we have united with key universities such as Xi’an Jiaotong University and Chang’an University to take the lead in the development of heavy-duty trucks using natural gas fuels.

During the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, Shaanxi Automobile also undertook the national “863; planning two new energy commercial vehicle projects, successfully developed CNG and LNG large horsepower heavy trucks, filling the gaps in domestic natural gas heavy truck products. Exported to foreign markets has won honors for its own brands, and made new breakthroughs. Green environmental protection vehicles such as electric tractors have entered the stage of R&D and implementation.

After more than three years of trial and error and the operation of nearly 2,000 product vehicles on the market, the reliability of natural gas heavy trucks in engine power is assured. Moreover, with the country's "Eastern Gas Transmission to the West"; the continuous construction of the project and the gradual improvement of gas station network, natural gas heavy trucks will usher in the peak of development and application in the coming few years.

The goal of Shaanxi Auto is that by 2012, new energy products will account for more than 5% of the Group's heavy truck output, and its market share will remain first in the country.

On April 21, Shaanxi Auto announced the establishment of the first heavy-duty new energy laboratory in China at the Shanghai Auto Show. We hope to take this opportunity to open up a new phase of innovation and energy self-owned brand heavy trucks.

In order to keep up with or exceed foreign countries in the new round of competition, China’s heavy trucks should now work hard to accelerate the R&D and industrialization of new energy heavy trucks, and realize the “turning overtaking” of Chinese heavy truck companies; The forefront.
