Dow and Graco to Provide Fiat with Automotive Sound Insulation Foam Solution

On March 23rd, Dow Automotive Systems and the United States Graco teamed up to launch the BETAFOAMNVH solution for automotive manufacturers at the NVH New Product Technology Conference in the automotive industry. This solution will be mainly used for acoustic filling of cars. The new sedan of GAC Fiat will be the first to use this solution, including the filling of voids in cars such as cars A, B, C columns, door panels, and roof rails, to reduce air and road noise and improve NVH (noise, vibration, and stability). DOTAFOAM, a Dow Automotive Systems business, is a two-component polyurethane cavity-filled foam that is used for noise and vibration control, as well as improving body stiffness and crashworthiness. BETAFOAM has an excellent cavity sealing effect, which can be adhered to the surface of the finished metal parts, so that a single product has both sound-absorbing and sealing properties. Up to 34 times the foaming rate makes this product low density, its low-density formula can be used as a high-performance soundproof seal, to prevent the noise generated by the air resonance in the body cavity, compared with similar products in the market can be reduced by up to 2 to 5 dB of noise, but also help reduce the total body weight.
