Guangzhou's three major Japanese cars lost more than 18 billion yuan in the second quarter

Between April and June of this year, Guangzhou Guangben and Guangfeng Dongfeng Nissan's three major Japanese automakers reduced their production by 110,000 vehicles from April to June, and their lost output value exceeded 18 billion yuan. The newspaper learned from the Guangzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission yesterday that Guangzhou’s economic development in the first half of the year has also followed a post-match adjustment situation after the Beijing Olympics and the Shanghai World Expo. The economic growth rate has slowed down; it is very difficult for municipal and district-level organizations to raise funds. In the first half of this year, the head office had already paid 4.3 billion yuan in engineering payments.

Automobile manufacturing output decreased by 6.1%

Data show that in the first half of the year in the context of slowing industrial economic growth, the tertiary industry's support role for Guangzhou's economic growth has been further enhanced, with a contribution rate of 66.3%, accounting for 61.9% of the city's GDP.

In the second quarter of this year, the unfavorable factors such as the major earthquakes in Japan and the tight supply of electricity also increased the rate of decline in industrial growth. The reporter learned from the report that in the first half of the year, Guangzhou achieved a gross industrial output value of 706.7 billion yuan, an increase of 10.3%, which was 13 percentage points lower than the same period of last year and a 5 percentage point drop from the first quarter. It also saw negative growth in the month of April.

Of particular concern is that in the first half of the year, the output value of the three pillar industries in Guangzhou only increased by 6.5%. Due to the interruption or insufficiency of supply of automobile and electronic key spare parts due to the earthquake in Japan, the three Japanese automakers of Guangzhou Guangben, Guangfeng, Dongfeng Nissan lost a total of 110,000 vehicles in April-June, and their output value exceeded 18 billion yuan. The output value of the automobile manufacturing industry decreased by 6.1%; while the electronic product manufacturing industry increased by 16.7%, it was 39.3% lower than the same period of last year.

Private industrial output value reached 107.524 billion yuan, an increase of 16.3%, becoming an important pulling force for industrial growth in the first half of the year.
