1. From the perspective of sales volume (number of units), comparing the sales rankings of diesel engine companies from January to October 2008 and from January to October 2009 (see Figure 1 and Figure 2), we can find:
1. Changes in rankings:
The top 13 diesel engine companies did not change, although the ranking changed:
Weichai decreased from No. 3 to No. 5, Anhui Quanchai and Yunnei Power increased from No. 4 and No. 5 to No. 3 and No. 4 respectively; Dongfeng Limited from No. 6 to No. 8; Dongfeng Chaochai and China Shouqi From No.7 and No.8 to No.6 and No.7 respectively; from January to October last year, No.11 and No.12 Beiqi Futian and Shandong Laiwu changed positions this year.
Other major changes:
The Great Wall rose from 25th to 14th, which is the biggest change among the top 26 diesel engine companies;
Chongqing Cummins dropped from 22nd to 26th;
2. Year-on-year sales growth
Compared with the same period of last year, the fastest-growing sales in the January-October period was Shenyang Shuangfu, which surged by 430.43%. Other growth of more than 50% were: Gio (161.87% growth), Mianyang Xinhua (118.93% growth), Anhui Quanchai (65.10% growth), and Shandong Laidong (growth 55.63%).
The companies that saw a year-on-year decrease in sales volume were: China National Heavy Duty Truck (down 0.95%), Dongfeng Limited (down 32.74%), Beiqi Foton (down 1.38%), Liuchai Power (down 92.52%), Chongqing Cummins (down by 2559 taihe To 0).
Second, in terms of sales (power), comparing the sales rankings of diesel engine companies from January to October of 2008 and from January to October of 2009 (see Figure 3), we can find:
From January to October 2009, the top four enterprises with the highest output power were still in order: Yuchai, Weichai, FAW, and Sinotruk. Their rankings did not change compared with the same period last year.
From the perspective of changes in output power, the faster growth is:
JAC (from 870,000 kilowatts to 3.03 million kilowatts, an increase of 248.28%), Anhui Quanchai (from 7.33 million kilowatts to 12.09 million kilowatts, an increase of 64.94%), and Shangchai (from 1.9 million kilowatts to 3.59 million kilowatts). Increased 88.95%), Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle (from 1.35 million kilowatts to 2.5 million kilowatts, an increase of 85.19%), Shandong Laidong (from 1.44 million kilowatts to 2.22 million kilowatts, an increase of 54.17%), Mianyang Xinhua (by 290,000 kilowatts increased to 660,000 kilowatts, an increase of 127.59%, and Gio (from 190,000 kilowatts to 500,000 kilowatts, an increase of 163.16%).
It can be seen that the major diesel engine companies have increased their power, and the trends from light to medium and heavy are obvious.
However, there are also heavy-duty diesel-based companies with a reduction in power:
Dongfeng Limited (from 22.48 million kilowatts to 7.12 million kilowatts, a decrease of 68.33%), China National Heavy Duty Truck (from 25.31 million kilowatts to 24.94 million kilowatts, a decrease of 1.46%).
