Detlef Juerss, director of Johnson Controls's seat development department, said recently that Johnson Controls is seeking to acquire more luxury seat component manufacturers, such as seat fans and electronics manufacturers.
The acquisition of these seat component manufacturers will enhance Johnson Controls' supply chain and provide more luxury seats for Daimler's Mercedes Benz and BMW Group.
From October 2009 to September 2010, Johnson Controls Automotive Interiors revenue reached US$16.6 billion, of which 80% came from the seating business. Last week, Johnson Controls purchased the C Rob Hammerstein Group, a Mercedes-Benz premium S-Class sedan seat component supplier.
This year, Johnson Controls also acquired Michel Thierry and Benoac Fertigteile, makers of automotive interior textiles and leather goods. Bruce McDonald, CEO of Johnson Controls, said in October this year that Johnson Controls will focus on auto parts in the short term.
