Nine swimming swimmers were sent to hospital for emergency treatment

Last night (27th), an incident of chlorine poisoning occurred in the swimming pool in the Weijia Gym Club of Shanghai Baoshan Jinqiu Garden. As a result, nine swimmers rushed to hospital for emergency treatment, including one seriously injured.

At 9 o'clock last night, a strong irritating gas suddenly appeared in the pool of the incident, resulting in symptoms of cough and nausea in more than 10 citizens who were swimming. The 7 adults and 2 children with severe symptoms were quickly sent to the nearby Tongji Hospital for treatment.

According to the casualty’s memory, before the incident, I saw someone open a lid of a white plastic bucket, followed by a pungent odor, several people immediately fainted, and the three people who were swimming in the deep-water area were injured. Heavy, Mr. Wang was taken out of the pool. According to another swimmer, the pool is generally disinfected with chemical reagents after clearance at 9:30 pm.

After the incident, Tongji Hospital quickly set up a green channel and called the respiratory and internal medicine forces for emergency treatment. According to the judgment of the hospital, the main culprit of the incident may be chlorine or sodium hypochlorite in the disinfectant of the swimming pool. The inhalation of this ingredient will produce acidic substances, causing respiratory and gastrointestinal tract burns and irritative damage.

The reporter was informed this morning from the Baoshan police that after the preliminary investigation, the above incident was caused by the illegal production of disinfected chlorine water by the staff of the Weijia gym club at the swimming pool, causing chemical burns in the respiratory and digestive tract mucosa of swimmers. At present, 9 injured people are still hospitalized in Tongji Hospital for observation and treatment, and they are all out of danger.
