A survey of new generations of migrant workers in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, and other cities revealed that more than 10% of left-over children have not seen their parents for three years; now they are about to become parents, and they are willing to abandon their urban job opportunities in order to avoid repeated mistakes by the next generation. The blue-collar job site, Dagu Group, recently conducted a survey of more than 7,100 new generation workers in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Suzhou, of whom 1,410 were in Beijing. Statistics show that a considerable proportion of the new generation of migrant workers in the 1980s and the 1990s have personal experiences of left-behind children. 25% of Beijing respondents said that their parents had gone out, 32% said that his father had gone out to work, and 5% said that his mother had gone out to work. Only 40% of respondents said that their parents did not work outside their childhood.

It is particularly saddening that 13% of the new generation of migrant workers in Beijing have said that they have not seen fathers or mothers who have worked outside the country for at least three years; 29% of respondents said that their time with their parents is 1-2 years respectively. ; 55% means less than one year; another 3% of respondents said that the time is 2 to 3 years respectively. Among them, one third of the migrant workers came to Beijing with their grandparents. Nearly four adults were brought up by the parents who did not go out. What is gratifying is that nearly 70% of Beijing's new generation of migrant workers have expressed their willingness to abandon their urban jobs in order to prevent their children from repeating the mistakes of their "left-behind children."
