"The era of unmanned cargo ships" is coming? US sewage test naval unmanned ship

According to foreign media reports, the US Navy unmanned ship Sea Hunter, which launched last month, received a series of tests in San Diego, Calif., on the 2nd local time to verify its ability to avoid collisions with other ships. If the test is successful, the "Sea Hunter" will change the military's maritime operations, as well as the shape of commercial shipping.

In the next two years, the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) will test the Sea Hunting on the California coast with the Navy, mainly around the ability of the Sea Hunter to avoid collisions with other ships at sea.

During the test period, the staff will be arranged on board to prevent accidents, and the "Sea Hunter" will comply with the International Maritime Navigation Regulations. When it is confirmed that the "Sea Hunt" is safe and reliable, it will sail on its own.

A DARPA spokesperson said that the "Sea Hunter" will replace human beings to perform dangerous missions. Unlike the current military drones, it is not remotely controlled by humans, but automatically sails to the destination according to the task instructions entered beforehand. Although the military temporarily plans to arrange only the "Sea Hunt" to detect enemy submarines, the developers believe that its ability does not stop there, it can also detect mines. However, at this stage, the United States has no intention of letting the "Sea Hunting" be equipped with weapons.

Although the "Sea Hunting" or the "unmanned cargo ship" era is coming, the International Transport Workers Union believes that human beings have the ability to predict and respond to maritime critical situations, and this technology will never be done. International regulations require that a specified number of crew members be on board a cargo ship, but there are no regulations for unmanned ships.
