The JJF-20 flotation machine is a large-scale mechanical agitating flotation machine currently produced in China. Its structure is similar to that of the US WIMCO flotation machine, as shown in Figure 1.

The flotation machine consists of an impeller (star wheel), a stator, a dispersion cover, a column, a spindle and a bearing. A false bottom and a diversion tube device are provided at the bottom of the flotation machine. The impeller mechanism is a key component of the flotation machine. The impeller is star-shaped and consists of eight radial blades with a blade height of 700 mm and a diameter of ф 700 mm. The stator has a cylindrical shape, and the periphery of the cylinder is composed of a plurality of elliptical small holes with protruding ribs inside. The dispersion cover has a truncated cone shape with a cone angle of 90° and a uniform circular aperture on the surface. There is an air inlet hole in the column, and the air enters the impeller chamber through the column to mix with the slurry. The guide tube device is in the center of the false bottom, and the adjusting ring is engaged with the lower end of the impeller by 40 mm, and the bottom of the impeller has a circulation hole for circulating the slurry.
The working principle is that when the impeller rotates in the stator, the adjacent slurry produces a liquid vortex to form a negative pressure, and the air is introduced by the suction hole on the vertical cylinder cover. At the same time, the slurry enters the blade from the bottom of the groove through the draft tube. The space between the air and the inhaled air is mixed by the centrifugal force of the impeller, and the three-phase mixture leaves the uniformly distributed small-hole impeller blades on the dispersion cover, enters the flotation zone through the passage of the cylindrical stator surface, and is floated. The separation process is completed in this zone, the slurry is returned to the bottom of the tank for recycling, and the mineralized foam rises to the foam zone and is scraped off by the scraper into a foam product (concentrate or medium mine).

This type of flotation machine has the following characteristics:
1 It is a self-aspirating mechanical agitating structure, so it can self-suck a sufficient amount of air, and the stirring ability is relatively strong;
2 has a relatively stable separation zone, the mineral surface is stable;
3 The gap between the impeller and the stator is large (230 mm), and the peripheral speed of the impeller is low (6.6 m/s), which reduces the wear of the impeller and the stator and reduces the power consumption.
The main disadvantage of this flotation machine is that it cannot self-prime the slurry and is a self-flowing ore. When the number of slots is more than six slots, a step configuration is required, and the return of the mine requires a foam pump.
