Allison Transmission Introduces 5th Generation Electronic Control System
Allison Transmission's fifth-generation electronic control system includes upgraded control module hardware, software and new integrated tiltmeters. These technology upgrades help further fuel efficiency for the vehicle and easily match the Allison transmission to the vehicle, highlighting the superior performance of the vehicle.
Allison Transmission is dedicated to the development and production of fully automatic gearboxes. The design and technology development of fully automatic transmissions has been centered on Allison's Continuous Power TechnologyTM, which is capable of powering the engine. Uninterrupted transmission to the drive wheels provides the best solution for the vehicle's excellent performance and high fuel efficiency.
In order to match the new generation of global automotive electronic and electrical architectures, and easily realize the integrated assembly of vehicles, Allison's fifth-generation electronic control system should be available. Its innovative electronic control technology is more flexible and applicable. It meets the needs of different OEMs and operators while providing an optimal shift strategy for creating industry-leading productivity and efficiency.
All Allison transmissions, including the newly announced Allison H 3000 series and TC10 series transmissions, will be equipped with fifth-generation electronic control systems. The electronic control system includes improved terminal programming, higher-speed passenger car CAN compatibility (up to 500Kbps speed) and new easy push-pull joystick shifters. Allison's engineers also focused on upgrading the hardware and software of the Transmission Control Module (TCM) to make its processing capabilities faster and more accurate.
The fifth-generation electronic control system module embeds a new type of tiltmeter that can increase vehicle productivity and efficiency when the vehicle starts and stops. This inclinometer is highly accurate and responsive, further improving the performance of load-based shift program technology (LBSS), which allows the Allison transmission to automatically select between economic shift mode and power shift mode. It is faster and more accurate, further reducing fuel consumption.
The fifth-generation electronic control system also adds two acceleration levels to enhance the vehicle acceleration control function (VAC), and adjusts drastic driving behavior by controlling engine fuel supply to further improve vehicle fuel economy.
Allison's executive director of application engineering and vehicle integration, Steve Spurlin, said: "The combination of Allison's Continuous Power TechnologyTM (Uninterrupted Power Technology) and the latest fifth-generation electronic control system provides customers with better vehicle performance and better performance. Team productivity and efficiency, higher fuel efficiency."
