It is refuted, non-self-propelled and suitable for being suspended in an unlimited navigation area. It can maintain self-sustaining capacity for 60 days. The water depth of the pipelaying operation can reach 300 meters. The 12-mooring positioning method is adopted. A heavy-duty crane with a fixed lifting capacity of 1200 tons and a full-rotation lifting capacity of 800 tons is installed on the ship. Deck pile capacity of 5,000 tons. The design and laying capacity is 3 km per day.
The ship is under the responsibility of Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry. The ship's detailed design is completed by CSSC 708 and the ship is classified into CCS. The project started construction in February 2008. The hull was successfully docked in November 2008 and the full crane load test of the main crane was completed in April 2009.
