From 2009 to 2010, when the heavy truck industry was blowout, Weichai had a hard time finding a machine. It was also at that time that many heavy-duty truck companies made a determined effort to embark on the road to self-made engines.

It was at that time that Auman and Valin resolutely started their own engine projects after suffering from no engine shortage. Compared with Dongfeng, Liberation, CNHTC and Shaanxi Automobile Group, which have their own engines, these two companies have been greatly affected when their heavy truck engine resources are in short supply. So that over a long period of time, Wu Yuejun, head of Futian Auman, mentioned that the sales volume affected by the engine all appeared to be a little bitter: "If it is not the bottleneck of the engine..." "If we also have our own engine," " If we can also use the same engine resources as our competitors...” Similarly, Liu Hanru even went to Weifang at that stage to personally supervise the team in order to obtain more engine resources.

In 2010, competing for the Weichai engine can even be described as "crazy". When everything has reached its peak, it may be the beginning of a decline. Fukuda is sitting on the title of China's commercial vehicle boss, of course, will not be constrained by the engine's problems, it is up to people. Valin Liu Hanru is even a dare to dare to do the boss. Both companies started the engine project from 2009. The difference is that Foton chose to rely on its existing joint venture, Foton Cummins, to complete the research and development of heavy-duty diesel engines, while Valin chose to start its own production and manufacture engines.
